A New Chapter for Tucson Murals

For over 20 years, Jerry Peek documented the painted walls of Tucson one mural, one story, one neighborhood at a time. His blog, tucsonmurals.blogspot.com, is a true archive: thousands of posts, countless images, and a clear love for the ever-changing canvas that is Tucson’s streetscape.

This website is the next chapter in that story.

Jerry has graciously handed over the domain, the archive, and a treasure trove of unpublished content so that this project can live on and grow. I’m honored to step in as the next steward; someone who also walks the alleys, zooms in on details, and wonders about the hands that held the brushes.

Part of this transition is bittersweet. One of Jerry’s longtime collaborators, David Aber, passed away recently. David was a co-editor, photographer, and careful eye behind many posts. His contributions helped shape the mural blog into what it is today, and we’ll be honoring his legacy here as well.

What to Expect Here

This site will remain, above all, a living archive. An evolving museum of Tucson’s murals. We’ll feature:

  • New and historic mural spotlights
  • Artist features and interviews
  • Neighborhood mural maps and walking routes
  • Archived posts and links to the original blog
  • Community submissions and mural updates
  • Reflections on art, place, memory, and change

Whether you’re a muralist, a mural-lover, or just mural-curious… this space is for you. We’re building as we go. Thanks for being part of it.
